We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it
Our team has doubled in the past six months to over 1,000 employees, and we expect our current growth rate to continue as we expand into new markets. We are seeking an experienced Compliance Project Manager to accelerate implementation of compliance related initiatives throughout Wave, specifically overseeing Wave’s Regulatory Exams & Remediation work. This role will be essential in ensuring preparedness for external audits and regulatory exams and driving internal project management to ensure that corrective actions and remediation are implemented efficiently throughout the company.

In this role, you’ll;
- Lead and manage internal coordination for regulatory compliance exams and audits ensuring the company is well-prepared.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g. legal, risk, operations, product) to manage stakeholder alignment and gather necessary documentation and information.
- Develop, track, and manage project plans for remediation efforts and corrective actions following audits or exams.
- Ensure all corrective action projects meet deadlines and regulatory standards.
- Align with department leads to ensure remediation work is prioritized in company goals and priorities.
- Maintain alignment among internal stakeholders through effective communication to ensure alignment and accuracy in responses to examiners.
Requirements
- Professional level proficiency in written and spoken French and English
- 5+ years experience in compliance, audit, or project management within fintech or financial services, with a focus on mobile money or payments.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management frameworks.
- Proven experience leading audits, exams, or regulatory inquiries, with hands-on experience in project management.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Prior experience in a fintech or fast-growing tech environment is highly preferred.
Key details
- You can work remotely from anywhere (between UTC and UTC +3) with reliable internet access.
- You’re willing to travel to one of our key markets at least once per year for ~6 days (Wave covers all costs). We also provide a yearly stipend of $800 to meet with coworkers.
