Curbed, New York Magazine's site dedicated to real estate, architecture, design, and urbanism, is looking for a Writer to report and publish regularly about the built environment in New York City. The ideal candidate is able to synthesize and comment on big and small real estate and built environment stories that reflect the energy and dynamics of city life. The time period for this temp, full-time position is February 24 - August 31, 2025.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Write 2-3 stories a week about New York City’s real estate and built environment and the people and forces that shape it
• Pitch timely ideas on a daily basis
• Identify and report on real estate, design, and how-we-live-now trends
• Contribute to Curbed’s bigger reporting projects and features as part of a team
• Work with multiple editors to expand the site’s real estate and housing coverage

WHO YOU ARE

• At least 1-2 years of reporting real estate and built environment news
• Familiarity with the built environment, neighborhoods, and characters of New York City
• An ability to meet deadlines and juggle quick turnaround assignments with longer-lead stories
• A deep curiosity and drive to understand the power players, controversies, and conflicts shaping the city
• A distinct point of view and voice on the page
