Stripe is building the economic infrastructure for the internet. Millions of businesses use Stripe to accept payments, manage revenue, and grow globally. Stripe Tax helps businesses calculate, collect, and manage indirect taxes as they sell across products, markets, and business models.

We’re hiring a Staff Product Manager to help shape the future of Stripe Tax. In this role, you will lead high-impact product strategy and execution across a broad portfolio, making it easier for businesses to understand, calculate, collect, and manage tax as they grow.

What you’ll do

As a Staff Product Manager on Stripe Tax, you will identify the most important opportunities to improve our tax products and turn them into focused strategies, durable platforms, and exceptional user experiences.

You will work closely with Engineering, Design, Tax, Partnerships, Go-to-Market, and other product teams to:

  • Set strategy and lead product initiatives that help more businesses successfully adopt and use Stripe Tax.
  • Improve the speed, accuracy, reliability, and usability of Stripe Tax calculations and related workflows.
  • Expand support for the geographies, tax requirements, industries, products, and business models that matter most to Stripe users.
  • Build capabilities for complex tax needs, such as registrations, exemptions, address and fulfillment logic, tax customization, and other business-specific requirements.
  • Develop scalable products and platform capabilities that work across Stripe’s ecosystem, including integrations, connector apps, marketplaces, and Connect platforms.
  • Partner across Stripe to create coherent end-to-end experiences spanning calculation, collection, reporting, and tax management.
  • Use customer insight, market context, data, and technical understanding to prioritize investments and make clear tradeoffs.
  • Align senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners around a shared product direction, measurable outcomes, and an execution plan.

What success looks like

You will help make Stripe Tax a product businesses can rely on as they scale. Merchants should be able to confidently answer “yes” to questions such as:

  • Can I use Stripe Tax for my business and the locations where I sell?
  • Does Stripe Tax support the taxes and business models that apply to me?
  • Can it calculate tax accurately for my registrations, exemptions, customers, products, and fulfillment model?
  • Is it fast, reliable, and easy for my team to operate?
  • Does it work with the other Stripe products, platforms, and integrations my business depends on?

Who you are

You are a product leader who is comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-stakes spaces where customer needs, regulatory complexity, technical constraints, and commercial opportunity intersect. You can translate a broad mission into a focused strategy, build alignment across teams, and deliver meaningful products over multiple horizons.

You likely have:

  • Significant product management experience, including ownership of complex, platform-oriented, or technically deep products.
  • A track record of setting strategy and delivering multi-team initiatives with measurable business and customer impact.
  • Strong judgment in prioritizing across customer needs, market opportunities, operational complexity, and engineering investment.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and design partners to build reliable, scalable products.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with executive stakeholders and to align diverse partners around a shared direction.
  • Curiosity about global commerce, financial infrastructure, tax, compliance, payments, marketplaces, or developer platforms. Direct domain experience is helpful but not required.
  • A customer-first mindset and the ability to turn complex requirements into simple, effective product experiences.

Why this role

Tax is a fundamental challenge for businesses that sell across borders, channels, and business models. Stripe Tax has the opportunity to remove that complexity, helping businesses launch faster, expand with confidence, and operate globally.

This is a high-leverage role at the intersection of global commerce, financial infrastructure, and product platform strategy. You will shape how Stripe Tax evolves to serve the next generation of internet businesses.

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €124,800 - €187,200. This range may change if you are hired in another location.
