At Resident, our staff is dedicated to the values of Excellence, Customer Love, Big Thinking, Inclusivity, and Forward Momentum.

This is an in-office role based in Tampa, FL. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Tampa Bay area.

About The Role

Resident is partnering with Ashley Furniture, one of the world's largest furniture manufacturers and retailers, to lead the product strategy for ashleyfurniture.com — Ashley's flagship eCommerce destination and one of the largest furniture eCommerce properties in the United States. Serving millions of customers across a broad catalog of home furnishings, the site is a core pillar of Ashley's omnichannel retail strategy, spanning direct-to-consumer, licensee retail, and B2B channels — playing an outsized role in driving brand awareness, customer acquisition, and revenue at scale.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Director of Product to lead the Ashley eCommerce product team, based in Tampa. Employed by Resident and embedded within the Ashley digital business, this player-coach leader will own the product strategy and execution for one of Ashley's most significant digital properties. The mandate: optimize and grow the eCommerce business by leveraging Resident's deep expertise in data science, experimentation, and performance marketing on behalf of a world-class retail brand.

Reporting to Resident's VP of Product, you will manage a team of product managers, own the ashleyfurniture.com platform roadmap, and drive measurable improvements in customer experience and business outcomes. The ideal candidate is a commercially sharp product leader who knows how to use data, testing, and a high-scale eCommerce platform to move the metrics that matter — conversion, revenue, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Be Doing:

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap for the Ashley eCommerce experience, with a clear focus on business performance, customer experience, and growth.
  • Identify the highest-leverage opportunities across the Ashley eCommerce customer journey — from acquisition through checkout and post-purchase — and build a roadmap that pursues them systematically.
  • Represent the Ashley customer and digital business teams in strategic discussions, ensuring product decisions reflect the unique scale, catalog complexity, and omnichannel context of the Ashley brand.
  • Partner with eCommerce, marketing, and merchandising leadership to align the product roadmap with broader business priorities and seasonal goals.

Product Execution & Delivery

  • Lead discovery, prioritization, and delivery across the Ashley eCommerce product surface — including browse and search, product detail pages, cart and checkout, promotions, and post-purchase experience.
  • Drive a rigorous, hypothesis-driven approach to product improvement, using A/B testing and experimentation to validate ideas before scaling them.
  • Leverage Resident’s proprietary data science and analytics capabilities to identify friction points, surface growth opportunities, and measure the impact of product changes with precision.
  • Define and own key product success metrics for the Ashley digital business — including conversion rate, AOV, revenue per visitor, and customer satisfaction — and establish clear, consistent visibility into performance.
  • Drive rapid experimentation cycles, using data to inform decisions at every stage of the product development process.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product managers focused on the Ashley eCommerce experience — setting clear goals, unblocking execution, and raising the team's product craft.
  • Establish strong ways of working: intake processes, sprint rhythms, and stakeholder communication cadences that keep the team focused and the business informed.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Partner closely with engineering and design leadership to ensure fast, high-quality delivery against the roadmap.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Executive Communication

  • Serve as the primary product voice for the Ashley digital business in cross-functional forums, representing the business clearly and advocating effectively for customer and commercial priorities.
  • Build strong working relationships with marketing, merchandising, supply chain, and store operations partners to ensure the product roadmap reflects the full picture of the Ashley digital business.
  • Regularly communicate product strategy, progress, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership and the broader organization.

The responsibilities described above are not exhaustive. You may be asked, from time to time and as reasonably required by business needs, to perform other duties consistent with your skills and role, including work for or on behalf of our related entities. This job description does not constitute a contract of employment and may be modified at any time, subject to applicable law.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of product management experience with increasing scope and responsibility, including consumer eCommerce; at least 3 years managing product managers.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving measurable business outcomes — conversion growth, revenue improvement, customer satisfaction — through product and experimentation.
  • Deep experience with eCommerce at scale, including catalog-rich or multi-category retail environments.
  • Strong command of A/B testing and experimentation methodologies; comfortable designing, running, and interpreting tests at high velocity.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations at the intersection of eCommerce, marketing, and retail/omnichannel operations.
  • Player-coach mentality: comfortable doing the hard product work yourself while developing others to grow in their craft.
  • Commercially sharp, with the ability to connect product decisions to business outcomes and communicate those connections clearly to executives and partners.
  • Strong communicator comfortable presenting to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated ability to leverage data to inform product decisions and prioritization.
  • Deep empathy for customers, demonstrated through strong practices in discovery and validation.
  • Must be willing and able to work in-office in Tampa, FL.
