About the role:
Resident is seeking a Vice President of Engineering, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. You will own the architecture, development and operation of our proprietary e-commerce platform. From serving highly personalized ecommerce experiences to delivering a world class post-purchase customer journey, your technical leadership skills will guide a team of developers located in Israel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning – Align our technology roadmap with the goals of the business. Collaborate with leaders from Product, Design, Operations, Customer Service and Finance to develop a roadmap of key initiatives and execute them. Identify dependencies and remove blockers.
- Technical Expertise – Evolve our platform architecture, creating differentiated services that are seamlessly integrated with both in-house and third-party solutions. Deliver on a roadmap that balances feature development with stability, scalability and performance. Instill a culture of engineering efficiency through the use of common design patterns and industry best practices.
- Process Driven – Ensure our engineering practices are optimized and appropriately mature for our scale, including core software development, CI/CD, DevSecOps, QA, etc. Strike the right balance between process and flexibility. Leverage automation and emerging technologies like AI copilot wherever possible
- Operational Excellence – Continue building our DevSecOps competency for efficiency, reliability, scale, and security. Partner with IT to maintain a secure, auditable, and controllable environment. Own cloud operations and infrastructure budget.
- Team Management – Hire, lead, and mentor a distributed team of individual contributors and managers. Strive for technical and operational excellence and use KPIs to measure the quality and efficiency of your teams
Skills/Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in building highly scalable software products and platforms
- 5+ years managing and leading engineering teams (40+, distributed)
- You are a builder (but know when to source an existing solution)
- You are comfortable working with ambiguity.
- Proven experience with modern technologies, architectures, and user experiences
- Well-versed in ecommerce, a/b testing, feature roadmap development, payments processing.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and DevOps principles
- Experience in startups and scaled/mature businesses alike - know what it takes to build lightweight process to balance control and agility
