Job Summary:
We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Business Systems with a strong background in Go-To-Market (GTM) technology operations to lead our GTM Business Systems team. This role will focus on driving the development, integration, implementation, and optimization of our core GTM technologies to streamline workflows, improve scalability, and enhance cross-functional collaboration.
Role Impact:
The Senior Manager, Business Systems will significantly enhance OpenGov's efficiency and scalability by focusing on critical business functions and technical processes, including:
• Enabling and supporting the entire Customer Journey, including presale motions (lead and opportunity management), quote-to-cash processes, customer success initiatives, and customer support functions.
• Designing and streamlining workflows to reduce manual intervention, accelerate sales cycles, and improve customer engagement.
• Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance processes and eliminate operational inefficiencies.
• Ensuring data accuracy and enriching targeted sales and marketing efforts through the integration of third-party data.
This is a hands on leader and will require you to balance individual contributions with people leadership, overseeing a team consisting of full-time employees and independent contractors, specializing in Development and Architecture. You will work closely with our operational partners in GTM to help define and execute on our technology roadmap while executing on current business systems initiatives. A typical day will involve splitting your time between technical contributions (e.g., designing workflows, configuring systems, and maintenance) and leadership activities (e.g., mentoring team members, conducting 1:1s, and collaborating with stakeholders). Expect to spend approximately 60% of your time on leadership and team coordination, and 40% on hands-on technical work.
Core Technologies:
This role will require expertise in several core technologies, which you will leverage on a daily basis. Below is a list of technologies you will be supporting and how they contribute to our operations:
• Salesforce (CPQ, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Quip): For managing customer relationships, pricing, and quotes.
• Marketo: Marketing automation platform.
• Outreach: Sales engagement and automation.
• Workato: Integration and workflow automation.
• Guru: Knowledge management.
• Rocketlane: Project management and PSA.
• Netsuite: ERP and financials.
•Leandata: Lead routing and management.
• Jira/Confluence: Project management and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Business Systems Team: Mentor and guide both FTEs and contractors by providing strategic direction and support. Act as a hands on leader, balancing technical contributions with management responsibilities. Conduct regular 1:1s for coaching and career development.
- Workflow, Automation, Configuration, and Integrations: Design and deliver efficient workflows, automations, integrations, and configurations for Salesforce and other key systems. Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure scalability and process optimization.
- Data Quality and Consistency: Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across all business systems. Work with business partners to develop and enforce data governance policies, establish data validation processes, and work closely with stakeholders to maintain high-quality data standards that support effective decision-making.
- Team & Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with GTM Operations teams to foster effective teamwork and collaboration to achieve organizational goals. Building strong relationships with your stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure system solutions effectively address them.
- Standardization and Optimization: Standardize and optimize business systems to enhance efficiency across the organization. Develop standardized structures and practices to maintain data accuracy and drive effectiveness.
- Architectural Standards: Develop and maintain architectural standards for the team to follow when building, maintaining and supporting OpenGov’s business systems.
- Development Strategy: Lead a clicks not code development strategy, placing an emphasis on configurable workflows, automation and integrations before using code to solve business challenges.
- Strategic Roadmapping: Collaborate with IT, Business Systems, and RevOps leadership to maintain a 3-year enterprise technology roadmap for long-term efficiency and scalability.
- Manage Key Projects: Oversee and contribute to strategic enterprise technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Agile Methodologies: Collaborate with the PMO to lead the team using Agile practices, orchestrating sprints, facilitating backlog grooming, and planning effectively.
Requirements and Preferred Experience:
- Salesforce Expertise: Strong experience with Salesforce, including CPQ, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Quip. Experience working with Data Cloud is a plus.
- GTM Tech Stack: Experience with Marketo, Outreach, Netsuite, and other GTM tools (PSA, CLM, Data Enrichment, etc.).
- Integration Tools: Experience with integration tools like Workato or other IPaaS technologies.
- Generative AI: Experience working with generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT, OpenAI, or similar.
- Systems Architecture: Proven experience in designing scalable systems architectures that support automation, integration, and business processes.
- Workflow and Automation: Knowledge in creating workflows, automations, and integrations, particularly within Salesforce and other core GTM systems.
- Hands on Leader Mentality: Proven ability to balance team leadership with individual contribution work. Experience leading small teams and growing functions, setting a productive pace while providing mentorship.
- Technical Management: 7-10 years of technical experience, with 3-5 years in a management role overseeing technical teams.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Information Sciences or MIS is preferred.
- Startup Mentality: Comfortable with a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that requires adaptability, a growth mindset, and a drive to lead by example.
- Expertise in Process Improvement: Passion for user experience, efficiency, and reducing complexity within business systems.
