Job Summary:
As an integral part of the Sales Team, the SDR Manager at OpenGov will play a pivotal role in leading a high-performing team of Sales Development Representatives to drive new business acquisition and customer upsells within the government sector. This role entails managing a team of 8-10 direct reports but also focusing on their professional development to cultivate future Account Executives, Customer Success Managers, Solution Engineers (SEs), and sales leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Sales Development Representatives to achieve their individual and team quotas.
  • Provide guidance and strategic direction to the SDR team in their prospecting efforts, ensuring alignment with company objectives and target markets.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Demand Generation to develop effective prospecting strategies and identify high-potential leads and upsell opportunities.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one and team meetings to provide guidance, training, and support to SDRs, focusing on their professional development and career growth.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the SDR team, with a focus on preparing future AEs, CSMs, SEs, and sales leaders.
  • Work closely with the Director of Sales Development to enhance processes, training programs, and team culture to optimize results and develop future leaders.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new team members as needed, with a focus on preparing them for future roles within the organization.
  • Conduct interviews, assess candidates, and make hiring decisions based on performance potential and cultural fit.

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in quota-achieving sales/business development roles, preferably in the technology/software industry, with a background as an SDR or Team Lead.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Strong understanding of the sales processes, preferably in SaaS or the government sector.
  • Passion for technology and its impact on society, with a keen interest in selling innovative solutions to government organizations.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and competitive mindset with a focus on achieving goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, preferably Salesforce.com.
  • Prior experience with cold calling or sales bootcamp training is advantageous.
