About the Team
The Demo Studio translates OpenAI's most advanced capabilities into tangible, high-impact customer experiences. We design and deliver the demos, applications, and environments that help executives and practitioners understand what is possible with AI.
Our work sits at the intersection of product, engineering, design, and go-to-market. We operate as a hybrid product studio and live production team, building experiences that are technically credible, narratively compelling, and reliable in high-stakes settings.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Demo Studio Lead to own the end-to-end demo experience for OpenAI’s major events, launches, and strategic programs.
This is a highly cross-functional role focused on translating cutting-edge AI capabilities into clear, compelling, and production-ready experiences. You will own the full demo portfolio for an event or initiative, spanning main-stage moments, breakout experiences, booths, and supporting content.
You’ll define the narrative, architect workflows, build high-fidelity demo environments, direct presenters, and ensure flawless execution in live environments. This is not a traditional sales engineering, presentation, or narrowly scoped design role — it requires a combination of product thinking, technical fluency, storytelling, systems design, and operational excellence.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, operates with strong ownership, and is excited about shaping how the world experiences AI firsthand.
In this role, you will:
Owning the demo portfolio for major events and ensuring a cohesive, high-quality experience across all demo surfaces
Designing narrative-driven demos that translate advanced AI capabilities into believable customer workflows
Building high-fidelity demo environments, applications, and agent-driven workflows across tools, data, and multimodal interfaces
Leading live demo execution, including operational readiness, troubleshooting, and backup systems
Directing presenters through rehearsal and iteration to improve clarity, pacing, and delivery
Extending demo experiences into booths, experiential activations, and attendee-facing applications
Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Marketing, and GTM teams to align on narrative and execution
Contributing to shared demo infrastructure, systems, and best practices that scale across events
You might thrive in this role if you:
8+ years in technical product marketing and/or technical success roles
Have strong systems thinking and can design end-to-end workflows and experiences
Are technically fluent and comfortable working with APIs, AI systems, data, and modern development tools
Have experience building demos, prototypes, or customer-facing applications
Have strong storytelling instincts and can simplify complex technical concepts into compelling narratives
Thrive in high-stakes environments such as launches, conferences, or live executive demos
Are highly detail-oriented and care deeply about craft, usability, and quality
Operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy in ambiguous environments
Stay calm under pressure and can troubleshoot effectively in real time
Workplace & Location
This role is based in NYC or San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. Occasional travel will be required.
Compensation Range: $284K - $315K USD
