Our Communications team includes PR/Media Relations, Internal Communications, Events, Community & Social, and other strategic comms functions. This team’s ethos is to support OpenAI's mission and goals by clearly and authentically explaining our technology, values, and approach to safely building powerful AI.

About the Role

Pro subscribers use OpenAI technologies to solve some of the world’s hardest problems. We’re hiring a senior community leader to set the vision for how we build relationships, share learnings, and increase product value for this special community of users.

Leading this effort means:

• Sharpening our understanding of Pro-subscriber segments and their use cases

• Creating vibrant two-way communication channels (newsletter, blog/website, online community spaces, and—eventually—offline touchpoints)

• Contributing to retention, satisfaction, and subscription growth—first in the U.S., then in key international markets

You’ll partner closely with Product Growth, Marketing, Research, and Developer Relations to ensure that subscriber insights flow back to technical teams and that we collaborate to build value for Pro users.

In this role, you will:

• Review data with our data scientists and conduct qualitative interviews to identify top Pro personas and use cases. Share those insights and use them to shape strategy.

• Craft the vision for Pro-subscriber editorial; own the content calendar, budget, and production of early prototypes.

• Stand up and operationalize a global online space that encourages peer learning amongst subscribers and fuel insights for OpenAI employees. Explore additional programming such as events.

• Engage select cohorts of Pro subscribers for early-access testing of new features and models, then partner with PMMs and Media PR to tell their stories.

• Define and own community KPIs. Work closely with Growth PM and PMM to monitor business health. Collaborate with data scientists to build dashboards and deepen understanding of the community.

• Write the playbook and hire local leads to scale these efforts in priority markets outside the U.S.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• 0-to-1 capacity: able to go from blank-sheet strategy to scrappy launch to scaled expansion

• Fluency in data analysis. Comfort turning data and qualitative insights into a strategy

• Proven talent as a creator of engaging, valuable content—comfortable owning newsletters, blogs, webpages and more

• Deep empathy for both technical and non-technical power users; bonus points for familiarity with AI tooling, developer ecosystems, or research workflows

• Ability to create cross-functional collaborations and build buy-in at all levels
