Our Sales Enablement team is continuing to build an excellent sales experience to ensure customers feel supported throughout their Gusto buying journey and beyond - and it begins with equipping new and tenured sellers to feel ready to do their jobs. We are seeking a skilled and motivated sales and customer onboarding training facilitator to deliver new hire and upskill training and contribute to the company's growth and success. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in facilitating new hire sales training, preferably in the payroll industry.

The Role

This role is part of our Sales Enablement team, within our Revenue Operations organization. Our RevOps organization is the linchpin of our world-class sales experience. As a key contributor to our sales team’s development, you will play a critical role in building sales and product skills for our high growth sales team. Candidates should align with our company values, be highly self-motivated to drive results, and have an insatiable desire to learn and grow to solve the business problems they face.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

Facilitation:

    • Deliver training through in-person, virtual, and blended learning to meet the various needs of the sales teams. Training events can include new hires, advanced skills, career progression readiness, leadership, and team performance support.
    • Manage all aspects of classroom preparation including creating/distributing agendas, learning materials, scheduling invitations, managing rosters, learning scorecards, and other requirements as needed.
    • Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Maintain proficiency /delivery certification in required role-specific content including general Gusto product knowledge.
    • Collect and share feedback from learners for the purposes of program enhancements and self development.
    • Serve as a culture carrier for Gusto’s culture and values.

Subject Matter Expertise:

    • Maintain advanced knowledge of Gusto’s products.
    • Leverage non-training time to analyze and determine future training needs and enhancements and maintain knowledge of Gusto’s services, processes, and products.
    • Participate in cross-departmental training initiatives.

Training and Development Development Work:

    • Collect and evaluate feedback from cross-functional leadership and subject matter experts to make change recommendations.
    • Conduct needs analysis and develop training material to be utilized at the team level.
    • Manage the structure and organization of training material in various knowledge management systems.
    • You are a self-starter and fast learner; no one tells you where to find the answers

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 3+ years of training and sales experience required.
  • Ability to lead and manage new learning and development projects from needs analysis to post-delivery evaluation.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles including adult education concepts to identify appropriate delivery methods and develop technical and conceptual content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with a multitude of personalities.
  • Hyper-organized with strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills; effective stakeholder and project management to ensure learning objectives and content development lead to optimal learning outcomes.
  • True passion for sales: you creatively find ways to make sales teams more productive.
  • Demonstrated experience training in a high volume call center environment facilitating new hire training and continuous education.
  • Executive written and verbal communication
  • Adaptable; you have the ability to influence sellers through content development and facilitation as well as drive change through coaching efforts of front line managers
  • This role has a travel requirement with potential travel of 50% of the year.
  • Tech Savvy: You know your way around GSuite, a Mac, Salesforce, Slack, Asana and various learning management systems and authoring tools.
  • Team Player: A consummate teammate, ready to wear multiple hats, inspire those around you, and work collectively while priding yourself in maintaining a professional brand and image.
  • Handles stress well: Conflict resolution skills and a personality that thrives in a dynamic environment. Ability to handle - and even thrive - in an urgent and ambiguous environment with grace and composure.
  • Great written and verbal communicator: Loves writing and talking about sales concepts and understands the importance of listening to the customer before delivering service.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $107,000 - $126,000 in San Francisco and New York, and $88,000 - $104,000 in Denver and most remote locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
