Do you want to shape the future of Sustainable CPG? This is your moment! We are looking for a Packaging Engineer to join our Owned Brands team. Grove’s Owned Brands portfolio is the driving force behind the company’s exponential growth. This opportunity calls for someone who is a natural collaborator, with knowledge of emerging packaging technologies, material research and circular packaging development to inspire teams and management on the framing and execution of packaging sustainability technologies and programs. You will build and maintain a vibrant internal and external network across different functions in the business, packaging suppliers and external packaging and sustainability experts.
Our ideal candidate is SF based and able to travel into our headquarters office to conduct testing inside our lab and collaborate with the R&D team on a regular basis.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Conduct and document package qualification plans, package distribution testing, package/product compatibility and functionality testing for new packages. Lead all activities to coordinate materials and setup required for testing in collaboration with external partners
  • Leading line trials and production validation with manufacturing partners, owning documentation, packaging component delivery, in-line QC expectations, and packout operations
  • Identify new technologies and materials that will help bring solutions to improve on packaging end-of-life and circularity
  • Apply robust material science principles for establishing material specification and fit for use analysis across the portfolio
  • Build strategic partnerships with key suppliers and customers for the advancement of new packaging initiatives
  • Partner with R&D and Quality Teams to conduct development risks assessments, packaging compatibility and functionality, and production equipment validation
  • Partner with the Creative Team to review packaging printing processes, printing equipment and capabilities, color matching, and approving dielines in order to deliver high quality printed packaging
  • Partner with Brand and Product Teams in developing new product lines and modifications to existing product lines, introducing suggestions for innovation of future and existing product lines
  • Develop package specifications for new products and create documentation to support all product qualification requirements
  • Reports to Senior Packaging Manager

ABOUT YOU

  • B.S. Degree Packaging Science, Materials Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in package development, preferably in a consumer packaged goods company
  • Established industry relationships and strong knowledge in the areas of Sustainable Packaging, Packaging Systems and Packaging Materials
  • Ability to work independently and deal with an ambiguous environment is a must
  • Broad packaging component knowledge and experience in both, Rigid and Flexible Packaging
  • You thrive on achieving exceptional results and set a strong example for others through both your outcomes and your resilience. You're always seeking improved methods, actively engaging and collaborating with others in the process
  • Takes ownership and accountability for execution and outcomes, adopting an owner's mindset and using data and insights to drive decision-making
  • You are curious about the world, always looking for opportunities to learn and enhance their skills
  • Should have a solid understanding of project management to prioritize and assess the significance of project activities, ensuring packaging commitments are met within the project schedule.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills and proven ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
