The Role: Flutterwave is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Vice President, US Operations to to join our Global Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight of all financial operations functions for the US, ranging from settlements, dispute management and reconciliations. Additionally, the role will develop and manage local relationships with all banking and payment partners, as well as ensure regulatory and partners compliance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee daily operations of US electronic payments (ACH, wire, card services) and ensure all payments processes are undertaken in an accurate and timely fashion,
• Monitor and manage payment processing workflows and systems
• Oversee the management of disputes in accordance with Regulation E
• Oversee the daily reconciliation of funds in US bank accounts
• Develop and implement escheatment policies (as well as any other relevant policies) as they apply to US products and service offerings
• Ensure all settlement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and Strengthen relationships with local partners (banks, payment partners) and develop new relationships as needed,
• Collaborate with product, engineering, expansion, compliance and sales teams to ensure the well-functioning of all US related operational matters
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve operational processes and procedures
• Develop US specific Standard Operating Procedures and operationalize all relevant policies
• Build a team with local resources as well as provide oversights and supervision of support resources in Lagos, Nigeria
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, partners and regulatory bodies

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Operations, Risk Management or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum 12+ years of US payments experience, global experience and experience building teams and processes a plus
• Strong understanding of payment processing systems and regulations for ACH including The Clearing House, Federal Reserve, NACHA rules, etc. (AAP Certification would be helpful)
• Experience in payment processing, especially processing and managing credit card chargebacks
• Good understanding of the FX conversions & treasury matters a plus
• Excellent Financial analytical, strategic planning and execution skills
• High Level attention to details with an acute ability to identify errors and seek process improvements.
