About Role:
The Senior Manager, Email Growth Manager has end-to-end ownership of the Lifecycle program at Ethos. They are responsible for the overall strategy, growth, delivery, and execution of Ethos’ multi-channel lifecycle campaigns. The ideal candidate is a thought partner for the innovative use of experimentation, technology, data, and insights to drive campaign efficiency and effectiveness. You will also play a role in ensuring our lifecycle capabilities continuously evolve to meet the business's and our customers' ongoing needs. This technical role requires a blend of hands-on execution and longer-term, strategic planning.
Key Performance Indicators:
- The Northstar metric for the Lifecycle program is the marginal contribution to total revenue and the quarter-over-quarter growth of absolute revenue.
Responsibilities of the Senior Manager, Email Growth:
- Accelerating operational efficiency by reducing the average time it takes to develop and send new communications. This includes streamlining processes, optimizing resources, and implementing effective communication workflows.
- Launching new campaign experiments that increase engagement and conversions, driving overall growth in revenue from Lifecycle.
- Ensuring the efficacy of the lifecycle program by monitoring and improving key metrics related to deliverability, IP reputation, and engagement of messages. This involves maintaining a high rate of successful message delivery, managing and enhancing the reputation of IP addresses used for communication, and driving engagement with the target audience.
Key initiatives include:
- Responsible for end-to-end email and SMS campaign management from strategy all the way down to deployment and reporting
- Develop and execute lifecycle marketing campaigns that drive growth, engagement, and high LTV
- Develop a culture of constant test & learn and measurement
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of lifecycle marketing campaigns
- Develop a roadmap for testing activation and retention strategies, with a specific focus on increasing activations and reducing churn
- Analyze and refine key audience segments to identify opportunities for increased engagement, open rates, click-through rates, revenue, etc
- Support the design of systems and processes to accelerate and optimize cross-functional operations, including data management, list hygiene, campaign creation, testing, and reporting, asset creation, naming conventions, tagging, tracking, reporting, etc
- Code logic in an email template to personalize content for 1:1 experience using a scripting language such as Handlebars, Liquid, AMPScript, etc
- Manage access and governance of Ethos’s lifecycle tools, validate use cases for new users, and ensure the right level of access and training
- Clarify, capture, and optimize requirements to build ad-hoc and automated communications
- Build, schedule, launch, and monitor complex automated and ad-hoc campaigns across email and SMS to drive new members through the insurance application process
- Monitoring and maintaining a high IP reputation and deliverability of messages
- Codifying documentation of internal best practices, tooling, and process improvements
- Oversee team QA to ensure all associated creative assets and media are executed and delivered flawlessly, with a focus on emails or SMS messages
- Manage, develop, and lead a small but mighty team, ensuring they can execute the strategy successfully, and have actionable development plans in place.
- Strong communicator, comfortable working with cross-functional teams including technical and non-technical teams
- Highly organized with project management skills, able to simultaneously manage multiple projects, teams, and timelines
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and will dive into problems headfirst and has worked in a startup environment
- Critical thinker with a problem-solving mindset
