As a B2C Content Writer at Apartment List, you’ll play a key role on our marketing team by developing content that connects with renters at every stage of their journey — from dreaming about their next move to finding (and loving) their new home. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you’ll own our renter-focused blog and create compelling content across key brand and product touchpoints that strengthen trust, engagement, and brand awareness.

We’re building a destination for renters that’s not just searchable, but truly helpful. As our dedicated B2C content writer, you’ll help Apartment List become the go-to brand for renters by creating content that educates, empowers, and inspires confidence in the moving process. You’ll bring our renter voice to life across every piece of content — helping us stand out from competitors and build deeper, lasting relationships with our audience.
This is a part-time contracted role for 20-30 hours per week. The pay rate for this position is $65/hour. This is a remote position for up to 6 months.

What you’ll do

  • Own the Apartment List blog content strategy — from planning to publishing — targeting awareness and consideration stages of the renter journey.
  • Write high-quality blog articles, guides, and resources that inform, engage, and build trust with renters.
  • Partner with our product marketing, organic social, and growth teams to create content that drives brand awareness, traffic, and engagement.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of SEO and AEO best practices, applying them to maximize visibility and authority.
  • Conduct ongoing research into renter needs, market trends, and competitive content gaps to inform your editorial approach.
  • Collaborate with design to bring content to life visually — from graphics and layouts to interactive formats.
  • Track and analyze content performance, using insights to refine strategy and continually improve impact.
  • Contribute new ideas for innovative renter content, from series and seasonal campaigns to interactive tools.
  • Maintain and evolve Apartment List’s brand voice across all renter-facing touchpoints to ensure consistency and connection.

What you’ll bring

  • 3+ years of experience as a B2C content writer or content marketer, ideally with a focus on lifestyle, housing, or consumer tech.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to quickly become a subject matter expert on new topics.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills — clear, conversational, and grounded in empathy.
  • Working knowledge of SEO and AEO, and how to write for both people and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and project management tools.
  • Comfort using AI tools to streamline and enhance the writing process (not replace it).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Passion for making renting easier, more transparent, and more human.
