Apartment List is seeking a strategic, operationally-minded Director of Account Management, East to lead a high-performing team responsible for driving revenue growth, retention, and customer success across our multifamily partner base. This role will oversee a group of Senior Account Managers, Account Managers, and a Team Lead, and serve as a key cross-functional leader—partnering closely with Billing, AR, Implementation, Operations, and Integrations to deliver a best-in-class partner experience.
The ideal candidate is a strong people leader, a strategic thinker, and an exceptional collaborator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. You'll elevate execution, expand our client impact, and scale our internal processes for long-term growth.
What you’ll do as part of the team:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team: Coach and support a growing AM org—including a Team Lead and direct ICs—to exceed acquisition, expansion, and retention targets while building a culture rooted in accountability, feedback, and continuous learning.
- Drive strategic account growth: Guide the team in building and executing strategic account plans that deepen relationships, unlock whitespace, and drive long-term revenue. Support high-stakes renewals, expansions, and executive engagement.
- Instill operational rigor and performance management: Own forecast accuracy and pacing to goal. Partner with Operations to improve reporting, systems, and GTM visibility. Continuously improve renewal processes, QBR execution, and campaign rollout.
- Act as a key cross-functional partner: Serve as the connective tissue across functions—collaborating with Billing, AR, Ops, Implementation, Product Integrations, and Enablement to resolve friction and scale delivery. Channel field insights into product and operational feedback loops.
- Represent the AM org internally and externally: Participate in strategic initiatives, represent Account Management in cross-functional forums, and engage at key industry events.
Skills and experience you’ll need to be successful:
- 8+ years in Account Management, Customer Success, or equivalent client-facing roles
- 4+ years in people management, including experience managing managers (or readiness to do so)
- Proven success leading high-performing teams to exceed revenue, retention, and growth targets
- Strong strategic leadership with the ability to align vision and elevate performance through clarity and coaching
- Deep understanding of SaaS business models and customer lifecycle strategy
- Operational discipline with experience owning forecasting, improving processes, and leveraging systems for scalable growth
- Relentless focus on delivering measurable value and driving long-term customer success
- Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence across complex cross-functional environments
- Experience partnering closely with billing, operations, and implementation teams
- Excellent communicator with strong executive presence and customer EQ
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Gong, and Google Sheets/Excel
- Multifamily housing experience or knowledge a strong plus
This is a fully remote role, with an expectation of roughly 20% travel for in-person meetings, conferences, and field visits.
