The AI Nurture team uses cutting-edge AI and GenAI technologies to revolutionize the apartment renting experience and engage with millions of renters, bridging the gap between renters and property managers. As a Staff Engineer (SE5)/ Tech Lead on this team, you will be hands-on engineering leader, ensuring efficient delivery of cross-functional projects, tech consolidation, and product initiatives and shaping the future of AI-driven real estate solutions.
While we are virtual first, given the importance of the collaboration with both US and Israeli based engineering teams, we are only considering candidates in the EST timezone.
Here’s what you’ll do as part of the team:
Leadership and Management:
- Be a facilitator of challenging projects, drive the team towards action, employ analytical decision making through uncertainty
- Manage and oversee the work of other US-based engineers
- Foster a collaborative environment that aligns with AL's culture and practices
- Work closely with Head of AI Nurture(Previously Diffe.rent’s CTO) and Head of Lister Engineering
Project and Technical Oversight:
- Identify paths to move forward - unlock clarity
- Lead both product initiatives and technical health projects
- Drive the consolidation of AIN’s tech stack with AL's broader stack and facilitate AI-Proofing
- Actively participate in engineering leadership forums to represent AIN team’s interests and communicate broader interests back to the AIN team
- 70+% hands on work
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Push and drive action in cross functional projects with both IL and US developers, design, product, and work closely with the AIN IL engineering manager and data science leads
- Coordinate with AL's US-based engineering leaders to ensure alignment and effective collaboration
Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be successful:
Experience: Software engineer level 5 possessing hands-on full stack capabilities with interest or experience in management roles

Ability to scope out and lead cross-functional projects

Experience working in scrum, agile practices
Familiarity with the following technologies
- NodeJS
- Python
- Ruby on rails
- React/NextJS
- DB: MongoDB or equivalent non-relational databases OR Postgres or equivalent relational databases
- Cloud - GCP, AWS or similar
- CI/CD - Jenkins, Github actions or similar
Location: Must be based on the East Coast of the United States to maximize overlap with AIN’s Israel-based team
Nice-to haves:
- Collaborating with Data Science teams
- Global Team Collaboration: Experience working with international teams, with any familiarity with Israeli culture and practices being advantageous
- Hebrew speaker

Here's the Pay Range:
At Apartment List, we carefully consider a variety of factors to determine compensation for each position, including the role, level, and work. The US base salary range for this position is:
- Zone 1: $196,000 - $238,000 TTC (including $170,000 - $207,000 base salary) + equity
- Zone 2: $181,000 - $220,000 TTC (including $158,000 - $191,000 base salary) + equity
- Zone 3: $166,000 - $202,000 TTC (including $145,000 - $176,000 base salary) + equity
This reflects the compensation target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Please note, the compensation details provided do not include benefits and perks that we offer.
We also rely on market indicators along with considering your work location, job related skills, experience and relevant education and training, to determine compensation that is fair and competitive for you. Apartment List will consider paying compensation near the higher of the range in exceptional circumstances, where candidates have the experience, credentials or expertise that would warrant such consideration. It is always our goal to hire exceptional talent and we would be happy to share more about compensation during the hiring process.
